In the process of fertilization, plants rely on the transfer of pollen from the anther to the stigma of the same or a different flower. Pollen is produced in the anther and is comprised of male reproductive cells. When a pollinator, such as a bee, lands on the flower, pollen grains may stick to its body. The bee then visits another flower and some of the pollen may rub off onto the pistol, the female reproductive organ of the plant, leading to fertilization.
