Lesson Title: Phonics Fun
Objective:
- To introduce learners to the concept of phonics
- To help learners identify and practice letter sounds
- To practice blending letter sounds to create words
Materials Needed:
- The alphabet chart
- Flashcards with letters and corresponding pictures
- Whiteboard and markers
- Interactive phonics games/activities
Activities:
1. Introduction (10 minutes)
- Start the lesson by showing the learners the alphabet chart and explaining that each letter makes a different sound.
- Use flashcards with letters and corresponding pictures to help the learners identify the sounds of each letter.
2. Letter Sounds (15 minutes)
- Write a few letters of the alphabet on the whiteboard and have the learners practice making the sounds of each letter.
- Have the learners match pictures with the corresponding beginning sounds of words.
3. Blending (15 minutes)
- Use interactive phonics games to help learners practice blending letter sounds to create simple words.
- Encourage the learners to sound out each letter and then blend them together to form the word.
4. Assessment (10 minutes)
- Have the learners show their understanding by identifying and writing down the sounds of different letters.
Conclusion:
- Review the key concepts of phonics and encourage the learners to continue practicing their letter sounds at home.
- Provide resources or worksheets for extra practice.
