It's too hard to follow all of the divisions etc in line formulas but your problem MAY be you didn't cube the 2.54 cm. The easy way to work the problem is
Convert 20 lbs to grams.
20 x 453.59 = ?grams.
Then Convert 1 ft to 12" and
12 x 2.54 cm = ?cm
4 x 2.54 cm = ?
12 x 2.54 cm = ?
12 x 12 x 4 x 2.54^3 = ?cc volume.
So 20*453.59/?cc volume = density and that gives me 0.96 g/cc.
Piece of iron weighs 20 pounds and measures 1 ft. by 1 ft. by 4in. What is its density in grams/cc?
20lbs/1 x 12inx12inx4in/1 x .454kg/1lb x 1g/1000kg x 1in^3/2.54cc=
20/1 x 576/1 x .454/1 x 1g/1000 x 1/2.54cc=
13.28g/cc
The right answer is supposed to be.96g/cc
Why is my answer incorrect?
