People should be able to help themselves. If they want to make their life better they need to be motivated and should find a way to make it happen. Equal opportunity for all. You just have to work for it. If a person is in a low paying job that is probably all they really want.

I agree that people should be able to help themseleves. To have a successful life you must have the mindset of a winner. To be a winner you must have three things self-confidence, determantion, and an high education.
What about the carry-out boys at my local grocery store -- who appear to be mildly mentally impaired? I believe they are determined, self confident, and have achieved the highest academic level they can. Yet they are in a low paying job.
What about the people over 50 who have lost their jobs because their company downsized them? With so many people looking for work -- there simply aren't enough good-paying jobs for everyone who is qualified.
However, you have a valid point of view that applies to most people. Now you need to support it with facts from your text or other credible source.
