Our son's 3rd grade teacher gave out a homework assignment which had the students make a sentence for each of their spelling words and then circle the "noun" in the sentence. We received his homework back from the teacher with the words, "I, you, He", circled. The comments were that they were not nouns but pronouns. We were wondering if at this age group 8-9 if they would know that nouns and pronouns would be different. Should the teacher stated cirle the common nouns?
