How do you get that equation and why do u divide it by 2?
Linda set up a simple ratio
2/5 = 7.5/x
she then cross-multiplied
2x = 5(7.5)
and finally divided both sides by 2
x = 5(7.5)/2 = 18.75 ft
or
if 2 inches represent 5 ft
then 1 inch represents 5/2 ft
then 7.5 inches represents (5/2)(7.5)
which is the same calculation as above
2/5 = 7.5/x
she then cross-multiplied
2x = 5(7.5)
and finally divided both sides by 2
x = 5(7.5)/2 = 18.75 ft
or
if 2 inches represent 5 ft
then 1 inch represents 5/2 ft
then 7.5 inches represents (5/2)(7.5)
which is the same calculation as above
