rate = distance / time = (44 / 5 mi) / (4 / 3 hr) = 33 / 5 = 6.6 mph
time = distance / rate
to find the time for any distance , just divide by 6.6 mph
Oleg ran 8.8 miles in 1 hour and 20 min. Assuming he continues at a constant rate ,how long will it take him to run any number of miles?

Thank you for taking your time to help me where I'm still confused is how do u determined what miles
1 hour and 20 minutes = 1 20/60 hours
= 1 1/3 hour
= 4/3 hour
since rate = distance/time
we have 8.8/(4/3) mph
= 8.8(3/4) mph
= 26.4/4 mph
= 6.6 mph
Scott just arrived at the same rate using different constants.
note that 8.8 = 88/10 = 44/5 <----- he used that in the numerator.
Now that we have the rate, just use
Time = distance/rate
to find the times for different distances
= 1 1/3 hour
= 4/3 hour
since rate = distance/time
we have 8.8/(4/3) mph
= 8.8(3/4) mph
= 26.4/4 mph
= 6.6 mph
