Okay I got this question on a test. I am not sure what I am supposed to do here. Can you show me how I would go about solving this.

A basketball player can jump 33in vertically. Find his hang time. Round to the nearest tenth.

Thanks

The time to drop in free-fall for 33 inches (2.75') can be calculated by solving for:
S=ut+(1/2)gt²
2.75=0*t + (1/2)(32.2)t²
t=√(2*2.75/32.2)
=0.41 sec.
Thus time he is off-ground =2*0.41 sec=0.82 sec.
What's that formula called?
where did you get that 32.2 from?
