The quote proves the character's traits of being introverted and socially isolated. This is evident when the quote states, "Jeremy wasn't close friends with any of the kids on the team. In fact, he wasn't close friends with any kids at all, except for Doris, his next-door neighbor." This shows that Jeremy lacks a social circle and prefers to keep to himself. The type of characterization used in the story is indirect characterization because the author reveals the character's traits through actions and dialogue, rather than directly stating them.
