Circumference is the distance around the circle. The circumference equals pi times the diameter.
Example for a circle with a 4 cm diameter:
C = pi * d
C = 3.14 * 4
C = 12.56 cm
The area of a circle equals pi * radius squared.
Example for a circle with a radius of 3 cm:
A = pi * r^2
A = 3.14 * 9
A = 28.26 square centimeters
