Two structures used for gaseous exchange in plants are:
-
Stomata: These are small openings typically found on the underside of leaves that allow for the exchange of gases (carbon dioxide, oxygen, and water vapor) between the plant and the atmosphere.
-
Lenticels: These are small, spongy openings found on the stems and woody parts of some plants that facilitate gas exchange between the interior of the plant and the atmosphere. They are especially important in allowing oxygen to enter and carbon dioxide to exit in areas where stomata are not present.
