My family went to starbucks. We ordered 3 drinks. My daughter's drink was .90 cents less than my drink and my sons drink was $2.20 more than my drink. The total bill was $12.90. How much was each drink? Use algebra.

k so i did this: x+ (x-.90) + (x+2.20) = 12.90

how do you solve for x though... i tried doing this but i just don't understand pleese help

Let x = the parent's drink.

x+ (x-.90) + (x+2.20) = 12.90

Combine like terms:

3x + 1.30 = 12.90

3x = 12.90 - 1.30

3x = 11.60

x = 3.87

3.87 + 2.97 + 6.07
