In Royally Jacked, Niki Burnham provides readers with sizzling romantic moments between two teens who think alike but have diverse backgrounds. This story takes place in Vienna, Virginia and is modern. Valerie is a typical teenager whose life turns in for a twist as her mom announces that she wants a divorce has a girlfriend named Gabrielle. This news has a bad effect on both Valerie and her dad. Valerie’s dad loses his favourite job and Valerie loses her school where all her friends are and where her long-time crush is. Valerie’s dad eventually finds a new job in Schwerinborg, this European country. The royal family whom he’s decided to work for offers him a two-bedroom apartment to stay in. Valerie has to make a choice with whom to stay with. Either her mom or her dad, and she decide to stick with her dad. She didn’t want to live with her mom and girlfriend in this apartment far away from her school. Valerie didn’t have much of a choice, either way she wouldn’t be able to stay at her school. The only things that Valerie was really going to miss were her friends, and her long-time crush David Anderson. As they arrive at their new, yet very ugly apartment, Valerie discovers a surprise, a sweet one. She meets the royal families’ son who is one year older than her and isn’t too scruffy to look at. His name is Georg and although he’s the prince, he’s still normal like Valerie. Valerie and he realize that they have a lot of things in common by spending some moments alone. Valerie begins to develop deep affection for him, and the same happens with Georg as well. They face a minor problem, but it gets solved easily. After things get fixed, Valerie and Georg tell each other how they both want to be together. Valerie doesn’t want to go to Virginia at any cost. By falling in love with the prince, Valerie finds that living in Europe has its rewards. This book was different and unique from the other types of book I’ve read. It had a great level of interest and I would definitely recommend it for teenagers to read. Overall the plot wasn’t so great. There was no surprise or climax, except at the beginning of the book. I expected a big problem to arise, but nothing like that happened. I think that the title Royally Jacked is good for this book because basically they Royal prince, Georg has stolen part of Valerie’s life. She is in love with him now, and will be shattered if they break up. Royally Jacked in simple terms is a modern romantic comedy book which you can’t stop reading as you begin it.
Please tell me if it's good, thanks.
