So for that question there is a picture of a square that shows 11 yards on the bottom line and 9 yards on the right side.

Also if the carpet costs $15.99 a square yard, how much will it cost?
please explain.

First find out the area.

A = 11 * 9
A = 99 square yards

Now multiply 99 by 15.99 to find the cost.
