Mrs. Burnett throws a ball innthe air with an initial velocity of 96 feet per second. The function f(t) = 96t - 16t^^2 represents the path of the ball.

How high will the ball go?

How long will it take the ball to reach the ground?

as with all parabolas, the vertex is at x = -b/2a, in this case t = 3

So, plug that in to get the max height

f(t) = 16t(6-t)
That will tell you how long it takes to hit the ground (f=0)

As usual, the vertex is midway between the roots.
