Mr. Franklin asked each of his 30 students to select their favorite radio station.

1/5 of the students chose station L.
the remaining students choose station M.
How many students chose station M as their favorite radio station?
I need someone to help me through this process. I tried but I got an answer that wasn't on the page. Can someone help please?

I got 12, I got it by turning the fractions into decimals, multiplying those by the number of students, added the total amount of students I got from the fractions, then subtracted it from the total number of students.(while writing this I found out what my mistake was, I accidently wrote 1/5 as the wrong decimal. I wrote it down as 0.25 instead of 0.2)
1. 1/5=20%=0.2
1/3=33.333%=0.333
2. 30 * .2=6
30 * .33=9.9≈10
3. 10+6=16
4. 30-16=14

K: 30 * 1/3 = 10
L: 30 * 1/5 = 6
M: 30 - 10 - 6 = 14

You are correct, but going through decimals (which may not be exact) seems unnecessary.
