Meaning of paleo

1 answer

Paleo, short for Paleolithic, refers to a diet, lifestyle, or philosophy that mimics the eating habits and lifestyle of our ancient ancestors who lived during the Stone Age. The Paleolithic era occurred approximately 2.6 million to 10,000 years ago.

The paleo diet primarily focuses on consuming foods that were available during that time period, including lean meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. It excludes processed foods, grains, dairy products, legumes, and added sugars. Supporters of the paleo lifestyle argue that these were the foods humans evolved to eat and therefore consuming them promotes better health and reduces the risk of chronic diseases.
