Reducing consumption of fossil fuels can help the ocean ecosystem by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide and other harmful chemicals that are released into the atmosphere. These chemicals can be absorbed by the ocean, leading to acidification which can harm marine life such as coral reefs and shellfish. By using cleaner energy sources and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, we can help maintain the chemical balance of the ocean and protect its delicate ecosystem.
