Many historians have claimed that geography has been very generous to the United States. How does the climate be generous to the United States?

The United States has a temperate (moderate) climate with plenty of fresh water and land suitable for agriculture. It also has a large system of rivers suitable for transportation, irrigation or hydroelectric projects, and over 4000 miles of ocean coastline (not counting Alaska) with many deep harbors for commerce. We were originally self-sufficient for oil and still are for coal.
Our geographic isolation from the wars of Europe, and mainland attack from Japan also helped a lot. The industrial buildup for WW2 left us the world's dominant industrial power for the remainder of the twentieth century.
