Jesus & Money from a Fish
memory verse
God is with those who obey him.
Psalm 14:5
Fishy Money (based on Matthew 17:24-27)
In Bible times, people had to pay something called a Temple tax. The Temple tax helped keep the Temple running, so people could there to worship God. go
One day, Jesus and his disciples were visiting a city. When they arrived, a man came to Peter and asked him, "Doesn't your teacher pay the Temple tax?"
Peter nodded his head yes. Of course Jesus paid the Temple tax! There was only one problem-Peter didn't have any money.

Peter went into the house where they were staying to ask Jesus where he could get some money for the Temple tax. Peter was surprised when he heard what Jesus said.
"Go down to the lake and throw in a line," Jesus said. "Open the mouth of the first fish you
catch, and you will find a large silver coin. Take it and pay the tax for both of us."
Peter went to the lake, and it happened just as Jesus said it would. There was
a silver coin in the first fish he caught! Peter continued to the
Temple to pay the tax. He was so thankful that
his Savior provided for him.
Jesus has paid the price for all of us. Because of Jesus, we can have eternal life with God. All we have to do is believe and obey, just like Peter did in this story.
