If you meant that Logan is twice as old as Lindsay, then you are correct in setting it up as you did. Your solution, however, is bogus.
x-5 + 2x-5 = 30
3x - 10 = 30
3x = 40
x = 40/3
No joy there.
If it should have read Logan is 2 years older than Lindsay, then the equation is
(x-5)+(x+2-5) = 30
2x-8 = 30
2x = 38
x = 19
Your assertion that Logan isn't 2 years older than Lindsey does not provide any useful information
logan isn't 2 years older than Lindsey. Five years ago the sum of their ages was 30. Find Lindsey current age. X-5+2x-5=30.
-1 + 0= 30. I don't think this right I tried I can't get the right answer. According to the common core the answer is supposed to be 19. Please help I tried but can't get the answer. I really need the answer before Thursday thank you so much.
