Many individuals, predominantly women, experience physical, emotional, and sexual abuse within their own homes at the hands of their partners or family members. This form of violence often goes unreported and can lead to femicide in extreme cases.
2. Honor killings: Honor killings, which involve the murder of a family member, typically a woman, who is perceived to have brought shame or dishonor upon the family, are also occurring in our community. These killings are often carried out by male family members in an attempt to restore the family's honor. Women are disproportionately affected by honor killings, highlighting the gendered nature of this form of violence.
3. Sexual violence: Sexual violence is a widespread issue in our community, with many women and girls at risk of experiencing , sexual assault, and harassment. Perpetrators of sexual violence often go unpunished, further perpetuating a culture of impunity and normalization of this harmful behavior. The prevalence of sexual violence contributes to the overall climate of gender-based violence and increases the risk of femicide.
