In addition to carbon dioxide, plants also need sunlight and water for photosynthesis. Sunlight provides the energy required for the photosynthetic process, while water is absorbed by the roots and transported to the leaves, where the photosynthesis occurs. Together with carbon dioxide, sunlight and water are essential for plants to produce glucose and oxygen through photosynthesis.
Like oxygen, carbon dioxide is a gas. In fact, it’s what we (humans) breathe out. Plants use carbon dioxide and produce oxygen through a process called photosynthesis. Other than carbon dioxide, what else do plants need for photosynthesis? (Hint: Refer back to the graph.)
