city gas ... 200 mi / 25 mi/gal = 8 gal
hwy gas ... 100 mi / 40 mi/gal = 2.5 gal
to fill up ... 8 + 2.5 = 10.5 gal
cost ... 10.5 gal * 3.299 per gal = ?
John fills the gas tank for his car to full. John then drives 200 miles in the city and averages 25 miles per gallon and 100 miles on the highway and averaged 40 miles per gallon. If gasoline cost $3.29 9/10 then how much will it cost John to fill up his car? Round your answer to the nearest penny.
(I’m not asking for just the answer I would like to know how do I do this and if I get it right then I’ll put the answer on here. Just an explanation on how to do this is what I would like.)
