It looks like you are talking about rectangular-prism tanks. I ams sure you know how to compute the volume of that geometrical shape.
V = L * W * H
Subtract the volume of the smaller tank from the volume of the larger tank and you will have the answer, in cubic inches, if W, L and H are in inches.
Joe's larger tank is completely filled with water. He takes water from it to completely fill the small tank. Determine how many cubic inches of water will remain in the larger tank.
Large Tank: length- 30in, width- 12in, height- 16in
Small Tank: length- 12in, width- 6in, height- 9in
