Job Simulation

Required Materials
Friend or family member to help create videos
Relevant household props
For this activity, you will again be creating several short video demonstrations in addition to a portfolio of job application materials.

Step 1: Research and Plan
Start by looking over the list below and doing any research needed to complete the assignment. Take notes or create an outline on how you want to shoot the videos and what you need to do to create the deliverable pieces of the activity.

Documents to create:
A simple chart that identifies and illustrates possible career paths in supervisory, management, and small business environments that one might explore when looking for a job.
Prepare a business letter, memorandum, fax, and e-mail.
These do not need to be lengthy; all they need to do is include the basic elements like title, header, etc. Please create an example of each.
Create a list identifying procedures and documents required to apply for a job (e.g., application, W-4, I-9) and briefly explain each one.
Create and maintain a portfolio of documents for job placement, e.g., résumé, letters of recommendation, awards, evidence of participation in school/community/volunteer activities, employer evaluations.
You do not need to create each of these items; simply collect any that you already have and put together a list of the rest with a brief description and any pertinent information for creating each one.
Videos:
Identify and demonstrate how to utilize various resources in a job search (e.g. networking, newspaper, internet)
Identify and demonstrate effective interviewing skills.
Perform a (brief) mock interview either of you interviewing your friend or your friend interviewing you.
Then perform another example of a mock interview where the interviewer asks illegal interview and application questions and the interviewee demonstrates how to handle the questions.
Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with others in the workplace by performing a scenario with your friend/family member.
Step 2: Record and Create
Once you have gathered any materials and planned out your videos and document creation, it is time to get to work!

Record the videos as listed above. Then, put together the various documentation that is outlined above. Please submit a file with your videos, documents, and a list of any resources or websites that you used to complete this activity.

Please refer to the rubric below for more information on how you will be graded.
