Jessica's weight is 540 newtons. According to the Third Law, if the Earth pulls on Jessica with a force of 540 N, then Jessica pulls on the Earth with a force of 540 newtons that acts in the opposite direction. However, if Jessica stumbles while rollerblading, she will fall down to the ground. Explain why this happens.

The gravitational force on Jessica is pulling her toward the center of the earth.
That force is resisted by the equal and opposite force the ground exerts up on the rollers.
The gravitational force on earth is pulling the earth toward Jessica. However is is balanced by the force Jessica's rollers exert down on earth.
If Jessica is no longer held away from the earth by the force up on her rollers, then a = Mjessica/g and she accelerates toward the center of earth.
The earth also accelerates toward Jessica while she is in the air, but the earth mass is so large that this acceleration is not detectable.
