I’ve to compare and contrast “Self-Reliance” by Emerson and “The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” by Frederick Douglass. I know that both writers share the idea that each individual should create their own identity and follow what they believe is best for them. However, I’m confused on what idea they differ. Please give clue.

Do they differ in the idea that Emerson believes one should attain knowledge of developing individual soul and Douglass believes knowledge is in the mind- one should only realize it and use it?
