y = k x^n maybe ?
if y = x^2 then n = 2
if y = x^3 then n = 3
it is given that y is directly proportional to xn. write down the value of n when (i) y m square is the area of a square length x m . (ii) y cm cube is the volume of a cube of length x cm.

explain it please!
y=k x^n (Directly proportional)
(i) y m^2 = x^2 (area of a square is x multiplied by x so “x^2”)
So “n” in that question would be “2”.
(ii) y cm^2 = x^3 (volume of a cube is x multiplied by x multiplied by x so “x^3”)
So “n” in that question would be “3”.
I tried to explain it more properly. :’)

Can u tell this, ym square is the area of triangle whose length is xm
I think that this has something to do with...
Y^2=√x ( mentioned in worked example 5)
For finding area we do x × x which means x^2.. so in part one n will be 2 .
For finding volume we do x × x × x which means x^3. So here n will be 3.
Tip: for direct proportion the value on both sides should be equal = to each other so of course, Y^2 = KX^2 and Y^3= KX^3
Where K is the constant.

It is good but isnt answering to my questions
Make an equation:
y=kx^n
1)y m^2=x^2
2)y cm^2=x^3
y=kx^n
1)y m^2=x^2
2)y cm^2=x^3
I would say n = 2 but what I'm confused about is what happens to the k
Yes confused
