S^8/S^5

-4x^3+9x^2-6x-1

1 answer

when you divide two powers with the same base, keep the base and subtract the exponents.

S^8/S^5 = S^(8-5) = S^3

-4x^3+9x^2-6x-1

What do you want done with it? Factor it?
I think you have a typo.
I think it should have been -4x^3+9x^2-6x+1 then the factors would be
-(x-1)(x-1)(4x-1)
