Lake Michigan only borders Indiana at the very north of the state. It is not in the state. Look at this map:

I don't know how you will determine which lakes are major or minor, but once you can see them, you can make comparisons.

The largest lake bordering Indiana is Lake Michigan. The largest lake totally within Indiana is Lake Monroe.

Your question could be interpreted either way. If I lived in Indiana and wanted to go to "the largest lake", I would go to the Lake Michigan shoreline. I would still be in Indiana.
