From an aerodynamic point of view, spheres are NOT streamlined. Their aerodynamic drag is almost as large as a flat plate of the same frontal area.

A slender cone, traveling apex-first, is streamlined. A football, thrown with a spiral spin to keep it pointed forward, is streamlined.

Most automobiles are streamlined. So are airplanes.
