Indicate whether the underlined words or groups of words need capital or lower case letters by selecting the best choice. If an underlined section is correct, select "No change."

"Hush little baby," my grandfather would often whisper softly to me, "Don't say a word."
A. "don't say a word."
B. "Don't Say A Word."
C. "Don't Say a Word."
D. No change

I think the answer is A because it's still continuing on the sentence. I believe whenever you quote something, separate it with a comma, continue the sentence, then add another comma, you usually start with a quotation then lower case letter, right? However, I am not entirely sure if what I'm saying is correct. Any help is much appreciated!

It's a new sentence. There should be a period after "me" and then no change.

Wait. Does that mean the answer is D then? Because it's asking whether there should be a capital letter or not.

I'm sorry. I'm afraid that I don't understand what you are trying to say. I apologize.

Yes, I'd go with D.

The answer is NOT "D". I selected "D" and it was incorrect. I think "a" is the answer. I'm almost sure of it. Will let you know after the grading.
