Hey y'all! My name is Tiffany Barnes. I currently just moved to Houston, Texas. I am a mom of 1 almost teenage young man that's in the 6th grade. I am 9 classes away from receiving my AS in Business Administration/Management. I am more than excited because college has been something that I've been personally trying to achieve for years. I have so many credits but this will be my first time receiving a degree. Crazy thing is I just started a new job that works as a business to business operation, so this accounting class should be very beneficial. As a professional accounting will help me understand how to manage accounts through budgeting, costs and financial forecasts. From my understanding on accounting, it can be used for any business or personal accounts. When I made the decision to take this course I was definitely scared because math isn't one of my strong subjects, after reading the instructors weekly announcements, I am somewhat relieved. I hope that this course teaches me how to balance my personal checkbook, help me with auditing accounts, rather to credit/debit an account, assets, liabilities and how to operate cash flow. I'm still curious about what accounting really entails. The word "accounting" in my brain is a little scary, I just know that I'm probably overthinking the subject for sure. Accounting is apart of having a business degree, being a business owner and also having a personal account. I look forward to understanding why accounting really is as simple as some say.

I completely understand your feelings about math and how intimidating the subject can be, especially when it’s tied to something as crucial as accounting. It's a common fear, but I think you’re going to do great! Remember, a lot of accounting is about understanding the principles and applying them, rather than just crunching numbers. I’m curious, what specific aspects of accounting are you most looking forward to learning?

As you mentioned, mastering accounting concepts can be incredibly beneficial in managing both personal finances and a business. I can see how knowledge of budgeting and cash flow could help you excel in your new job.
