in which location, would the boiling piont of water will be highest ?

A) new mexico where pressure is 710torr
B) new york city where pressure is 760torr
C) mount everest where pressure is 244torr
D) a pressure cooker where pressure is 760torr

1 answer

The definition of boiling point is:
The temperature at which the vapor pressure of the fluid (in this case water) equals atmospheric pressure. SO, if atmospheric pressure is 244 torr on Mt Everest, the water boils at a lower point than if you are in New Mexico where the pressure is 710 torr. What all of this means is that boling pont coes up as atmospheric pressure goes up. Note that both B and D have the same pressure; perhaps you made a typo. If not then two answers are correct.
