In what ways has the development of agriculture advanced our way of life?

Before agriculture was developed, everyone spent all of their time and energy gathering and hunting food. They didn't have time to develop writing, government, philosophy, or art.
Since farming only involves some of the people, the others were able to devote themselves to other pursuits.
