A rock burst is most likely to occur in a large longwall mine. This type of mining involves the extraction of coal (or other materials) using a longwall face, and it is associated with high-stress conditions in the rocks surrounding the mine. When the stresses in the rock exceed its strength, it can result in sudden and violent failures known as rock bursts, which can pose significant safety hazards to miners.
In contrast, the other mining scenarios mentioned, while they may have their own risks, are less associated with the phenomenon of rock bursts compared to longwall mining.
