Recyclable materials are those that can be processed and reused to create new products, reducing the need for raw materials. However, just because a material is recyclable does not mean that it is renewable. For example, plastic is a recyclable material, but it is made from non-renewable fossil fuels such as oil and natural gas. Once these resources are depleted, plastic production will no longer be sustainable even if it is recyclable. On the other hand, materials like paper and cardboard are both recyclable and renewable, as they can be made from sustainably sourced wood or other plant fibers that can be replanted and harvested.
