Shays' Rebellion was a big protest in 1786 where farmers in Massachusetts, led by Daniel Shays, rose up against high taxes and unfair treatment. They felt the government wasn't helping them, and when they tried to take over a courthouse, it showed that the national government was too weak to stop them. This scared many leaders because they worried that without a strong government, other states might also rebel. Because of this, they decided they needed to create a new plan for a stronger government, which led to the writing of the Constitution.
