In the story Tom Sawyer, why does Tom live with his Aunt Polly? i am not sure but is it because that her mom died since it says that it was Aunt Polly dead sister's boy...but where is the dad?

1 answer

You have to read The Adventures of Huck Finn to find out. Aunt Polly is raising Tom because his mother is dead and his father is a drunk, and out of the area. Curiously, Tom is the father figure to Huck.

All four of Twain's books are based on his life. By the way, the character Aunt Polly is based largely on Twain's mother.
