Where the conflict in any story can be near the beginning of the story, so that it "kicks off" the action dramatically, or it can occur just before the climax.
You'll need to decide what the climax is and then make other decisions from there.
In the story "Because of Winn-Dixie", can anyone help me describe the scene in the story where the conflict is the strongest?
