Question

In the book, Language in Thought and Action 5th edition, by S.I and Alan Hayakawa, what are the main principles? I have a few already:
1)Cooperation is essential in order to have a society.
2)Words aren't the only thing associated with language: tone of voice, rhythm, and expressions are key features of language, too.
3)Context is always needed in order to understand a person's choice of words.
Are those principles any good? And if there are more important principles, I'd be really happy to hear them. Thanks for the help!
