In my writing group, we all received something to write a poem about, and a paragraph or so on why we did how we did. I received Depression/Suicidal Thoughts.

This is a love letter
To my blade
Thank you honey
For showin me im sane
This is my love letter
To my knife
Thank you baby
For helpin me survive
You showed me what I need
Thank you baby
For helpin me to bleed
This is a love letter
To my blade
This is a love letter
Because of you I'm all better
This is a love letter
to my scars
"the best thing, it wasn't even hard"
I did this piece because I thought it showed a unique point of view rarely heard. It shows the connection, that the writer shares with the blade. It isn't just a knife, it is a way of life. When I wrote this, this is how I felt, and I believe that the reader can tell how the writer felt.

Rather than a suicide, this love letter seems to relate to self-mutilation. If it is suicidal, it wouldn't help the person survive. However, self-mutilation is related to depression.
