A very bad question. There are thousands of thermal oils, manufactured and blended to meet operating specs, especially high, and low themperature.

Hydrogenated mineral oil, usually a paraffin base is used, which is a mixture of alkanes hydrogenated. If I had to answer this question, fifty years ago, the answer would be mineral oil.
