In getting ready to slam-dunk the ball, a basketball player starts from rest and sprints to a speed of 11.0 m/s in 2.58 s. Assuming that the player accelerates uniformly, determine the distance he runs.

2 answers

v = 0 + a t
11 = a (2.58)
a = 11/2.58

d = (1/2) a t^2

= (1/2)(11/2.58) (2.58)^2

or simply
=the average speed = 5.5
5.5 * 2.58 will give the same answer :)
