Summarization: President Franklin D. Roosevelt instituted the New Deal to restore prosperity to America during the Great Depression. As soon as Roosevelt took office in 1933, he worked to stabilize the economy and provide jobs for Americans. One of the New Deal programs was Works" Progress Administration" which was started in 1935. This program did the following, created with the passage of the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act, the WPA was the largest of all agencies established under the New Deal. President Franklin D. Roosevelt's main reason for doing this was for people (mainly Americans) to be able to have relief. The president wanted to help those in crisis immediately by creating jobs, bread lines, and welfare.
