Nope.
It sounds like the answer would be the cumulative nature of modern knowledge of physics. I would guess that because of other authors usage and meaning of this quote. They used it to represent seeing past what their ancestors saw.
With that being said, I hope you realize that this is the way some other famous authors interpreted it, but I am not completely sure in this case.
