The human respiratory system is responsible for supplying the body with oxygen and removing carbon dioxide. It primarily involves several key organs, including the lungs, trachea, and diaphragm. Air enters through the nose or mouth, travels down the trachea, and fills the lungs, where oxygen is exchanged for carbon dioxide in tiny air sacs called alveoli. The diaphragm helps in this process by contracting and relaxing to change the pressure in the chest cavity, allowing us to breathe in and out.
