Electrical wires are made from metal because metal conducts electricity really well, which helps power our devices. However, if the metal was exposed, it could be dangerous and give people a shock, so it's coated with rubber. Rubber is an insulator, meaning it doesn't conduct electricity, keeping us safe. Similarly, metal pans have handles made of rubber or plastic to protect our hands from the heat. Just like the rubber on wires helps prevent electric shocks, the rubber or plastic on pan handles helps prevent burns.
