Loyalists are people who supported the British during the American Revolution and wanted to stay loyal to the King. Patriots, on the other hand, are people who wanted America to be independent from the British rule and fought for freedom. If I were alive during the American Revolution, I would probably be a patriot because I believe in freedom and I don't want to be ruled by another country. It would also be scary to fight against the British, but being free is more important than being scared.
